Dwight Howard Says Yes To Lakers!!! So Whats The Hold Up Now??

Dwight Howard has long coveted the Brooklyn Nets as his next landing spot, but after a summer filled with daily rumors of four-team trade proposals, the six-time All-Star has moved on from his Big Apple infatuation and is locked in on joining the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell RealGM.
The Lakers, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly discussing a three-team trade that would send Howard to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum to the Cavaliers, while the Magic would receive Anderson Varejao and multiple draft picks.

Howard has always been impressed with the Lakers’ winning tradition and intrigued with the off-court opportunities that come with playing in Los Angeles.
Questions about Howard's role with the team, however, became an early concern for the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Howard has since moved on from those concerns and is confident he will be an integral part of a team that will have a chance to compete immediately for a championship, according to sources that spoke with RealGM.

The Lakers are reportedly ready to make the trade, but first need assurance from Howard that he will commit to the team long-term. Sources say Howard is “excited” about the opportunity to play for the Lakers and will re-sign with the team when his contract expires at the end of the 2012-13 season.

BEEF TWEETS!!! Ochocinco vs The Game

NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco and West Coast rapper The Game heated up the Twitter world this weekend after exchanging a few direct disses at one another.
Ever since The Game beat up 40 Glocc in a fight while recording it on his iPhone, he has been walking around with his chest out. Ochocinco decided to call him out after a twitter follower asked  if he and the Game squared off who would win and it led to this exchange.

Too much time on each others hands or is The Game on a rampage trying to f!**#k up the whole world!?!. If you ask me who I have my money on... I'd say Ochocinco if no one has guns!!! - D

You Better Go Back and Watch Some Tape!

Kobe vs. Kyrie for $50k

"Kyrie actually has got some talent, so I entertain that conversation!" Kobe said.  Now that his hand was bitten by the mamba. Guess we have to wait and see what happens...We like his confidence and I'd pay to see that 1-on-1. Perhaps the NBA should entertain more 1-on-1 with superstars. I can see it now, NBA TV presents (insert NBA superstar challenges here) -Russ

Pomona MC KMG The Illustrator Dies Of Heart Attack

[Editor's note: Jeff Weiss's column, "Bizarre Ride," appears on West Coast Sound every Wednesday. Be sure to also check out the archives.]
If you ever go to a nightclub and they play "Black Superman," by Above the Law, get the fuck out of there as fast as possible. --Danny Brown
Black Superman died on Friday. Kryptonite caught up to KMG the Illustrator, co-founder of Above the Law, the Ruthless Records G-funk pioneers responsible for several of the greatest albums in gangsta rap history. He was 43. (Update: His cause of death wasapparently a heart attack.)
It doesn't matter that "Black Superman" rocket-landed 18 years ago. If you bump Above the Law's best-known song at any public function, you should still prepare for no-holds-barred bedlam of the sort common to steel-cage matches, prison riots and shopping malls on the day Jordans arrive. Even KMG's real name (Kevin M. Gulley) implied rowdy invincibility, since, in rap slang, "gully" loosely translates to, "Do not fuck with this man." READ MORE

Kobe & Co. Say Their Team Is Better Than 92' Dream Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Michael Jordan said there's no way Kobe Bryant and this year's USA Olympic basketball team could've beaten the 1992 Dream Team.
Jordan told The Associated Press Thursday that he laughed -- "I absolutely laughed" -- when hearing Bryant's comments that the U.S. squad training in Las Vegas could take Jordan and company. Jordan said there's "no comparison" which team is better.
"For him to compare those two teams is not one of the smarter things he ever could have done," Jordan said prior to playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Charlotte. READ MORE

Sensitive America Perhaps??

Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, who claims to have been present the night of Tosh's show, has told Buzzfeedthat the comedian's exchange with the offended audience member didn't happen the way she described.
According to Masada, Tosh didn't make a joke about the woman getting raped and the topic arose when the comedian asked the audience what they wanted to talk about and someone said "rape." He says that this is when the woman called out to Tosh, and that he responded like so:
"Daniel came in, and he said, 'Well it sounds like she’s been raped by five guys' — something like that. I really didn’t hear properly."
He also alleges that the woman stayed for the entire set and did not complain to management until after the show. READ MORE

Kobe Sends Message To U.S Teammate Lebron On Rings...

If there was one thing to take away from the fantastic Dream Team documentary that recently aired, is just how much trash talk takes place when the world’s greatest basketball players join forces. It’s no different this time around, as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James headline Team USA’s for Olympic Gold in London. But before they head across the pond, Bryant will remind James that he has a long way to go before he catches up in the race for NBA titles. From SI:
“He’s going to be a different player,’ said [Tyson] Chandler of the impact the championship will have on [LeBron] James. Chandler should know because he became a champion with Dallas in 2011 at the expense of James and Miami. ‘LeBron was already an incredible player, and if not the best, top two — there’s only one other guy that can challenge that, and he’s on this team.’ Chandler was referring to [Kobe] Bryant, of course. ‘So his whole mentality is going to be different, because the confidence of winning an NBA championship changes a player,’ said Chandler. ‘Confidence — knowing you’re a champion, you’re the best. You walk around with that swagger, and he deserves it. He worked very hard and now he can call himself a champ.’

[…] Above all else, he is not going to relax. The breakthrough doesn’t change everything, as warned by Bryant. ‘One championship doesn’t get it, you know what I’m saying?’ Bryant said. ‘So for me, when we won one, it was a little different because it was, like you know, Michael (Jordan) had six, Magic (Johnson) had five. So me and Shaq (O’Neal) both were like, man, we got to get some more. One ain’t going to cut it.’ Surely James has been thinking the same way. ‘Yeah, I mean, since the last time we were here I got two,’ said Bryant, extending the vowel the way Jordan extended his fingertips after making his last championship shot in Utah. He let the ‘two’ hang out there without rushing onto the next sentence. ‘Dirk got one. He (James) got one.’ Has Bryant reminded James of the championship score? ‘Not yet,’ he said. ‘I will. I will.’”

Once Hated Rivals... Now Deadly Allies

The agitation stayed with Kobe Bryant.
Even six years removed from it all, the Lakers’ star still harbored resentment toward the Phoenix Suns after being eliminating by them in the first round of two consecutive postseasons. So much so that he admits, “I don’t like them.”
The frustration lingered with Steve Nash.
Two regular-season MVP awards and remaining one of the game’s best-ever passers aside, Nash acknowledges his thirst for an NBA championship. Why that hasn’t happened yet partly involves the Lakers, who halted the Suns’ momentum in the 2010 Western Conference semifinals. So as Nash mulled his free-agent options, he conceded a few weeks ago, “It would be hard to put on a Lakers jersey.”
That all changed within the past week. READ MORE
