Our Tribute Mondays continue... This time we hit you with some Too Short, hailing from the Bay Area (East Oakland).

 Born in Los Angeles, but an Oakland resident by the age of 14, Too Short was the first West Coast rap star, recording three albums on his own before he made his major-label debut with 1988's gold album Born to Mack; his next four all went platinum. Anticipating much of the later gangsta phenomenon, he restricted his lyrical themes to tales of sexual prowess and physical violence, with the occasional social message track to mix things up. Showing love for West Coast Music, and paying tribute to a West Coast Legend/ Rapper! Yes we know it's 2012 where peeps have become sissified, skinny jeans wearing, bottle throwing,  I sing in all my songs "Hip Hop Artists!!" But unlike the rest of you boy band loving fools... we love to keep (REAL HIP HOP/RAP) ALIVE! So we have decided as of today that every Monday will be 'Tribute Mondays' and we will post different ol skoo hip hop and rap videos... Pomona MC KMG The Illustrator Dies Of Heart Attack

Black Superman died on Friday. Kryptonite caught up to KMG the Illustrator, co-founder of Above the Law, the Ruthless Records G-funk pioneers responsible for several of the greatest albums in gangsta rap history. He was 43. (Update: His cause of death wasapparently a heart attack.)
It doesn't matter that "Black Superman" rocket-landed 18 years ago. If you bump Above the Law's best-known song at any public function, you should still prepare for no-holds-barred bedlam of the sort common to steel-cage matches, prison riots and shopping malls on the day Jordans arrive. Even KMG's real name (Kevin M. Gulley) implied rowdy invincibility, since, in rap slang, "gully" loosely translates to, "Do not fuck with this man." READ MORE
