If you ever go to a nightclub and they play "Black Superman," by Above the Law, get the fuck out of there as fast as possible. --Danny Brown
Black Superman died on Friday. Kryptonite caught up to KMG the Illustrator, co-founder of Above the Law, the Ruthless Records G-funk pioneers responsible for several of the greatest albums in gangsta rap history. He was 43. (Update: His cause of death wasapparently a heart attack.)
It doesn't matter that "Black Superman" rocket-landed 18 years ago. If you bump Above the Law's best-known song at any public function, you should still prepare for no-holds-barred bedlam of the sort common to steel-cage matches, prison riots and shopping malls on the day Jordans arrive. Even KMG's real name (Kevin M. Gulley) implied rowdy invincibility, since, in rap slang, "gully" loosely translates to, "Do not fuck with this man." READ MORE

Rodney King... The King Is Dead But His Words "Can't We All Just Get Along" Will Live On!
A next-door neighbor of Rodney King said she heard the 47-year-old in his backyard sobbing uncontrollably early Sunday, apparently after he had been up all night. Then she heard a splash.
King, an avid swimmer, was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool Sunday morning, and detectives with the Rialto Police Department were still investigating the circumstances Monday.
King's fiancée, Cynthia Kelley, called 911 at 5:25 a.m. after finding him, telling detectives she was unable to get him out of the pool because she was a poor swimmer.
One neighbor, Sandra Gardea, 31, said she heard music playing and a man crying in King's backyard from about 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. She also heard King's fiancée trying to coax him back into the house.
"It wasn't like an argument," Gardea said. "She was just saying, 'Get in the house. Get in the house.' " READ MORE
